3D Printer

UltiMaker S7

If you want a top-tier FDM 3D printer in your engineering department, you need the UltiMaker S7. This machine takes everything we love about UltiMaker’s S-series and brings it to another level. For starters, this model introduces a high-tech air management system. Why is this so important? Clean, consistent air is a quick way to ensure flawless 3D-printed parts with fewer surface defects and better dimensional consistency.

The UltiMaker S7 also comes with a redesigned enclosure door that snaps closed with a magnet. This new door does a better job of sealing the printing environment, further improving the quality of each part.

Owning an UltiMaker S7 comes with fewer headaches. For starters, you don’t need to worry about troubleshooting surface defects or flaws on your prints. In addition, the setup and removal of parts has never been easier.

This machine also comes with unbelievable versatility. You can print with over 280 different materials, and the UltiMaker S7 has a dual nozzle setup which allows you to print with different materials at the same time. Combined, you’ll find even more use for the UltiMaker S7 within your engineering department. Need a quick mock-up of your CAD model? What about an intricate plastic part? This is no problem for the UltiMaker S7.

Features and Benefits

Accuracy, Versatility, and Reliability Like No Other

The UltiMaker S7 offers accuracy and reliability that you won’t find elsewhere. The machine can easily hit Z accuracies as tight as 2.5 micron, which is 0.0025mm or 0.000098”. At the same time, the machine is highly reliable and will consistently hit tight tolerances. With an UltiMaker S7, you can run it as frequently or rarely as you’d like, and you’ll still get the same great results. Thanks to the sealing power and air filtration, feel free to put the UltiMaker S7 in the dustiest corner of your lab, and it will run with no issues at all.

Better 3D Printing Precision

Thanks to all of these design improvements, the UltiMaker S7 offers even better 3D printing precision compared to other printers within the same price range. This makes the UltiMaker S7 one of the more favorable options if you want one printer that can do it all.

  • Incredible surface finishes. With its advanced air management and temperature control, each print comes with an incredible surface finish, without any finishing steps needed.
  • Get dimensionally accurate parts. The UltiMaker S7 can maintain your tight tolerances time and time again.
  • Perfect for low-volume printing. Making dimensionally accurate parts in a low-volume batch is very simple with the UltiMaker S7.

Get Parts Even Faster

Most people know that 3D printing is faster than traditional machining, but the UltiMaker S7 takes this a step further. This machine offers more features and functions that further expedite each printing operation.

  • Fast print speeds. With faster printing speeds, you can finish entire parts in less time, thanks to the advanced controls within the UltiMaker S7.
  • Two extruders. Having two extruders can theoretically cut your print times in half when you need to add supports or a secondary material.
  • Design to production in hours. It’s very easy to go from a general concept to a finished production part within a few hours thanks to the UltiMaker S7.

Great for Beginners or Experts

The UltiMaker S7 can be used by beginners or expert-level 3D printing engineers. This machine is easy to use and understand, but it also offers advanced parameter adjustment that experts will appreciate.

  • Award-winning user interface. The touchscreen has won design awards since it’s so easy to use and understand.
  • One-click prints and remote starts. With the UltiMaker S7, you can start a print from your desk or start with one click on the machine.
  • Very little room for error. The UltiMaker S7 has sensors and features that take the guesswork out of 3D printing. With less room for error, there will be fewer mistakes that slow you down.

More About This Technology

Fused deposition modeling (FDM) is one of the most common forms of 3D printing, and it’s largely used by hobbyists and DIYers. It has a special place in industrial settings as a low-cost way to make presentable 3D parts. You might use an FDM printer to create a scaled model home, an aesthetic representation of the final part, or a non-load-bearing component.

FDM works through an extruder on an XYZ (3-axis) gantry. Solid plastic is pushed against a hot nozzle which turns the plastic molten. The molten plastic is then carefully applied to the bed of your 3D printer. The 3-axis gantry will move around in X and Y, drawing a single layer of your 3D model. When it’s done, the nozzle will move up in the Z direction and create a new layer directly on top of the previously-extruded layer. This process continues until your full 3D-printed part is completed.

FDM printers are not used for load-bearing applications due to the weakness of the plastic material, and the weak points between each layer of the print. Even a small cyclic load can easily cause failure between layers.

You might find FDM-printed parts in the aerospace, medical, and consumer goods industries.
