3D Printer

CraftBot Flow

The Flow is CraftBot’s most affordable option within its new “Flow” family of FDM printers that come with countless upgrades and improvements that your engineering department deserves. A lot of people associate FDM printers with consumer-grade applications, but the CraftBot Flow breaks that mold. This desktop 3D printer is a great addition to any engineering department, whether or not you have an existing 3D printing workflow.

With the CraftBot Flow in your lab, you can bring prototypes, models, and simple parts to life. A production process that might have taken weeks in the past can turn into just a few hours.

There are a lot of ways to save time and money with the CraftBot Flow. With a hotend that gets to higher temperatures, added sensors, and an optimized build plate, the CraftBot Flow will check all of the boxes on your must-have list.

Although the build volume is the second smallest one that CraftBot offers, it comes with accuracy and precision that makes up for it. Plus, you get all of the added functionality and sensors that go into the Flow line of printers.

Features and Benefits

An Easy-to-Use 3D Printer that Fits Your Engineering Budget

With the CraftBot Flow, a lot of the pitfalls of 3D printing are completely removed. The team at CraftBot made this line of printers specifically for people who are new to 3D printing but want to get the best results. It doesn’t have the same “quirks” that traditional consumer-grade FDM 3D printers have, and it has many more features that you wouldn’t expect. As a result, the CraftBot Flow is a great printer that boasts incredible affordability and an ease of use that your engineering team deserves.

Expedite the Production Process

FDM 3D printers are really good at one thing: expediting your existing production phases. With the CraftBot Flow, you can go from a general concept of a part to a finished, physical unit in just a matter of hours.

  • Get prototypes in hours. You can quickly make a prototype for testing, generating buzz around a new product, fitment checks, and getting investor buy-in.
  • High-speed operation. With an all-new motherboard and servo motors, the CraftBot Flow offers even faster printing speeds.
  • Move your production in-house. You don’t have to worry about outsourcing your low-volume plastic production when you have a CraftBot Flow.

A High-Quality Printer

As a company, CraftBot offers some great quality across their product line. The CraftBot Flow is no exception, and it’s a high-quality printer. This is why we always suggest printers from CraftBot to engineering departments that are looking for a great FDM printer to rely on.

  • Reinforced steel framework. With a steel framework, the CraftBot Flow suffers fewer quality issues due to vibration or machine racking. This results in better finished parts.
  • All-metal hotend. An all-metal hotend offers superior print quality and better surface finishes across all of your parts.
  • Dual-drive filament flow. This means that your filament flows more uniformly, helping with the overall accuracy and precision of each part that you print.

3D Printing Made Easy

Simply put, the CraftBot Flow makes 3D printing easy. It’s a great option for rookie 3D printers or an experienced team who needs a new 3D printing workhorse. This machine will stand up to your operational demands while simplifying the whole process.

  • Start a print remotely. With IoT connectivity, you can start a new print on the CraftBot Flow from anywhere in the world.
  • The touchscreen is easy to use. The standard touchscreen and camera system make it even easier to start and monitor your 3D prints.
  • This new print bed makes it easy. Every CraftBot Flow comes with a revolutionized print bed that helps with bed adhesion and makes it even easier to remove parts without damaging them.

More About This Technology

Fused deposition modeling (FDM) is one of the most common forms of 3D printing, and it’s largely used by hobbyists and DIYers. It has a special place in industrial settings as a low-cost way to make presentable 3D parts. You might use an FDM printer to create a scaled model home, an aesthetic representation of the final part, or a non-load-bearing component.

FDM works through an extruder on an XYZ (3-axis) gantry. Solid plastic is pushed against a hot nozzle which turns the plastic molten. The molten plastic is then carefully applied to the bed of your 3D printer. The 3-axis gantry will move around in X and Y, drawing a single layer of your 3D model. When it’s done, the nozzle will move up in the Z direction and create a new layer directly on top of the previously-extruded layer. This process continues until your full 3D-printed part is completed.

FDM printers are not used for load-bearing applications due to the weakness of the plastic material, and the weak points between each layer of the print. Even a small cyclic load can easily cause failure between layers.

You might find FDM-printed parts in the aerospace, medical, and consumer goods industries.
