Yacht & Boat CAD Design
For manufacturers have sheet metal projects for boat and yacht design that require 3D modeling and production of flat patterns, CAD / CAM Services excels in yacht and boat CAD. The initial source for the project can be in nearly any format:
- Hand drawing
- 2D raster image
- Point cloud including ATSM. E57,PTX, .PTS file formats
- Imported SolidWorks Mesh body
- Polygon model including.PLY, PDF 3D.PDF, .STL, JT, and similar formats

Our Yacht & Boat CAD Process
A typical case below describes a yacht construction process from prototyping to final CNC sheet metal production. For this project, we converted all of above sources to a native parametric SolidWorks 3D assembly model first.
Then we built ribs, frames and skin surfaces, using a defined material thickness.
Each part has a Sheet Metal Flat Pattern SolidWorks configuration.
We take even the most complicated bent sheet metal part and turn this into the flat pattern.
All dimensions are important for sheet metal fabrications – K-Factor, radius, thickness. The final flat pattern is shown there.
Flat patterns go to a CNC machine cut, typically plasma or laser. The CNC operator performs a nesting process by placing parts over metal sheets.
Skin parts have less thickness than a frame.
For the final step, the assembly facility does the bending and welding for the completed yacht body.
