3D Scan to CAD Services

With our 3D Scan to CAD services, you get a fast and accurate method of putting the physical measurements of any object into your CAD system.

Outource your CAD services to us, for engineering, manufacturing, the auto industry, aerospace, shipbuilding, or even your architectural drawings. We do point clouds, 3d scan meshes, and any other types you may need, and provide government CAD services.

The 3D scanned data can be represented by a scale digital model or a 3D graphics rendering. The scanned data provides all of the physical dimensions of the object, such as length, width, height, volume, feature size, feature location, and surface area.

This 3D scanned data acts as a bridge between the actual physical object and manufacturing. With 3D Scan to CAD, the data from the 3D scan can be converted into CAD / CAM data used by CNC machines.3D Scanning Artec Eva As a leading provider of CAD services our 3D scan to CAD and printing services are invaluable for CAD modelingreverse engineering, contact/non-contact dimensional inspection, and ISO 17025-accredited integrated metrology services and saves many hours of grueling redesign work by your engineers.

Even the movie and entertainment industry makes use of 3D scanning to create animated versions of real physical objects. However, most of our customers are in manufacturing, engineering and military environments. The ability to reverse engineer nearly any object makes it possible to create and do things that previously were impossible.

Not only has 3D scanning created possibilities, it has also created opportunities because the technology we use is both mobile and adaptable to many different scenarios. We can even perform on-site 3D scanning services that provide incredible accuracy at prices that offer a far better ROI than having your staff reverse engineer an object by hand.

3D Scanning to Computer

Who Uses 3D Scan to CAD Services?

Who Uses 3D Scanning services? Quite simply…anyone who needs a faster, easier way to make…well, ANYTHING! As long as you have something physical to start with that can be scanned, and there are virtually no limitations as to size, location, or position, as long as you have the right scanner for the job. Here are some examples:

  • Hollywood movie makers and video game animators regularly use 3D scanning and 3D printing for characters and special effects.
  • Hospitals and dental labs use these types scanning devices to create digital models body parts and teeth in order to make perfectly fitting prosthetics and dentures.
  • Museums and galleries use 3D scanning to make replicas of everything from artifacts and statures to dinosaurs.
  • Architects and Designers can avoid spatial conflicts when remodeling anything from factories and schools to houses and bridges by using a laser scanner to scan and plot the existing construction, then creating a Building Information Model (BIM) to remodel virtually.
  • Aerospace engineers can scan anything from large wing pieces to small bolts in order to retrofit parts or improve future designs
  • Automobile customizers use 3D scanning to scan the existing part of a car that they want to customize, ensuring that the customization piece will fit seamlessly.
  • Jeff Dunham, the ventriloquist, uses 3D scanning services and printing to create custom “talking” hot rod, according to an article posted on www.3Dwrs.org.
  • Hobbyists of all types use small, inexpensive “hobby” 3D scanners to make everything from teacups to robots.
  • Surveyors use 3D scanning to monitor coastal erosion, slope deterioration, buildings, bridges, power stations, refineries, dams, railway infrastructure, topography and more, depending upon what they’re surveying. If it’s solid…they can scan it.
  • Forensics analysts, whether they are recreating a crime scene or a crash site, 3D scanning helps them determine what happened.

Basic 3D Scanning Service

Small objects to entire rooms can be scanned using a powerful 3D real-time scanning system. The system makes use of specialized sensors to gather data, regardless of the object’s shape or size.

The data is captured from 3 & 4 axis creating multiple angles and converted into a 360 degree 3D mesh, which is automatically and perfectly aligned, because of we smooth that data. We can even combine and finalize meshes with different customizable settings to help you get the results that you need.

Finally, we edit, process and export the data for you to use with your own 3D modeling software, such as SolidWorks, Revit, CATIA or we can create the 3D model or render for you.

Advanced 3D Scanning Services

For 3D scan to CAD, there are many different methods for capturing the 3D measurements of a physical part and thus, many different types of scanners. For more advanced requirements, we also offer to scan with a high-accuracy white light technology that enables capturing digital 3D scans from physical objects in mere seconds.

Using a pair of machine vision cameras, the scanner captures a single scan at up to 0.0018″ accuracy and generates up to 2.6 million points per scan. Because scanning is done with no physical contact, there is no measurement interference for true non-destructive reverse engineering and testing.

We interpolate the dense point cloud captured by our structured light scanner into highly accurate 3D CAD models that can be confidently used for reverse engineering when the highest accuracy possible is essential (for instance in aerospace and military applications sensitive manufacturing operations and metrology applications.)

3D Scanning

3D Scanning for Digital Modeling

By using specialized non-contact, non-destructive 3D Scanning technology to digitally capture the shape of physical objects, we’re able to create “point clouds” of data from the surface of an object. In this way, we’re able to capture a physical object’s exact size and shape and save it as a digital 3-dimensional representation, or model.

We can capture free-form shapes or structured shapes, which means that 3D scanning is well-suited to the measurement and inspection of all kinds of surfaces no matter how contoured or complex their geometries are. Because this type of replication requires massive amounts of data to accurately describe the shape, It is impractical to use traditional measurement methods or a touch probe.

A 3D model is a digital representation of a physical object. If you have an object, and you want it in a digital form, we’re the people to come to. We can capture and transform any object into a 3D digital model. But we do more than just 3D scan… We process the raw point cloud data into a 3D digital model that you can bring into your 3D CAD program to reverse engineer, redesign, or use as a starting point for more advanced designs.

A 3D digital model is very versatile. Some companies use them for comparative analysis of an object, or even FEA and CFD analysis. Museums, historical societies, and archaeologists use 3D models for archival purposes as well as comparative analysis. They can be used to digitally repair the damage that has been done to an object so that the object can be reproduced in its proper form using rapid prototyping and milling technologies.

Ready to Build, Get Started Now

The Time is Now! Don’t Wait Another Minute!

Bottom line… our 3D scanning and printings services empower you to recreate almost any object into a 3D digital format that can be used for just about anything you want.

Are there Any Limitations?

We have the ability to capture objects indoors or outdoors, during the day or at night. We can capture very small objects and very large objects, including buildings.

Most of our customers send small items to us for scanning, but if you have very large objects, please contact us to make arrangements for us to come to you.
