3D Scanning & Digital Modeling – Models from 3D Scans
By using specialized non-contact, non-destructive technology to digitally capture the shape of physical objects, we’re able to create “point clouds” of data from the surface of an object. In this way, we’re able to capture a physical object’s exact size and shape and save it as a digital 3-dimensional representation, or model.
We can capture free-form shapes or structured shapes, which means that 3D scanning is well-suited to the measurement and inspection of all kinds of surfaces no matter how contoured or complex their geometries are. Because this type of replication requires massive amounts of data to accurately describe the shape, it is impractical to use traditional measurement methods or a touch probe.
