It gives you the choice. Depending on the content of the X-ray, it can contain information up to 8K or 11.5 lp/mm on the film. The 460 and 860 can convert a film at 1K, 2K, 4K or in the 860 8K resolution, giving you the ability to pull the needed fidelity or the full fidelity image from the X-ray.
