Reprographic PlanRoom Success
Hackworth Reprographics needed to provide on-line access to construction project plans and specifications for their traditional customers -- contractors, subcontractors and architects. The project required that the customers have a secure login that would enable them to sort through the available bid sets, view the drawings, and place print orders on-line. Since Hackworth's customers would log-in from multiple locations, and with differing bandwidths, the project required access using a standard web browser, with no client-side software or plug-ins required; viewing needed to be at browser speed, with no-download of drawings. In addition, Hackworth wanted an application that would not require retooling of the ordering, printing and accounting processes they already had in place.
Contract Work, Scope, and Deliverables
IDEAL delivered an IDEAL scanner, ScanDEX, scanning and indexing software and IX-E PlanRoom Plus, which is based on IntraNETIX, IDEAL's core thin client technology. In addiiton to IntraNETIX, the IX-E PlanRoom Plus incorporates an e-commerce module for placing print orders on line. ScanDEX is used to scan the plans and specs into a database archive, which can then be accessed and viewed via IntraNETIX and ordered on line. IDEAL set up the ScanDEX database, customized the IX-E PlanRoom Plus graphics and text, installed the system and trained Hackworth's employees. In addition, IDEAL worked with Hackworth's IT group to enable them to do further customization and design work on the system themselves.
