Raster to Vector Software for GIS

WiseImage is an image editing software that enables users to vectorize raster images that could be used in ArcView or other GIS programs that use vector images as a tool for analysis. WiseImage greatly reduces the amount of tedious time spend on tracing or redrawing images using the editing tools in ArcView and other image editing programs.

Here, at the GIS Center in the Map Collection, students, professors, and Yale affiliates can scan images to a digital format, then vectorize the image to be used for further analysis. We have installed WiseImage onto one of our two public computers. Patrons may make an appointment to use this software.

"Prior to finding CAD/CAM Services and their CAD Perfect™ conversion services, it would require many hours for our draftsmen to digitize the maps... With CAD/CAM, our costs are lower, the conversion is done much more quickly and the accuracy is amazing. We're very satisfied."
